About Anu Bhagwat
Anu-Bhagwat Counselling and Psychotherapy

I am a person-centered, humanistic, integrative, trauma – informed counsellor and psychotherapist, currently based in Melbourne, Australia. I have practiced in the field of counselling and psychotherapy since 2011, in Australia, India and Cambodia. I hold a Master of Science in Applied Psychology and have specializations in Art Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing and Trauma Informed Healing.

I am warm, approachable, non-judgmental and compassionate towards my clients. I believe in person-centered counselling, which means that psychotherapy is tailored and customized to the needs and personalities of my clients. I walk along side my clients at the pace they set for me. I use a lot of creative techniques that keep counselling non-threatening, whilst deepening the experience and continuing to facilitate the processing of painful things in ways that are comfortable and gentle for my clients.

Through the process of counselling and psychotherapy, I work with my clients helping them achieve the goals they set for themselves, grow in love for self, build strong connections within, and as a result make meaningful connections with people around them. I teach my clients how to navigate the uncertainties of life by equipping them with resources that build resilience, provide support, warmth and the expertise necessary to deal with various complexities.

I believe in empowering my clients, therefore the experience of counselling will ensure my clients feel equipped with the inner strength and courage to make choices and take steps that fall in line with their personal goals. As a counsellor and psychotherapist I help clients’ identify and understand patterns of behaviour and blind spots that keep them trapped in viscous cycles. This new understanding empowers them to change the things that make them unhappy thus helping them feel in control and as a result, lead fulfilling lives.

In my experience people simply want to feel understood, supported and heard. They want to be seen and feel accepted. They want to know they are significant the way they are. They want to heal and be free. They want hope and a way out of their struggle. At Yellow Brick Counseling we create a safe space for clients to explore the areas of their life that they need to understand better.

The work I do with my clients is based on a deep belief that everyone can heal, change and grow therefore I strive towards planting HOPE and a deep assurance in the hearts and minds of my clients’ that no matter how stuck they feel, no matter how overwhelmed or lost, no matter how dark the night – there is always a way!
