Rebates
As the primary psychologist at Yellow Brick Counseling, Anu Bhagwat is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and has a Medicare provider number. Therefore, counselling sessions at Yellow Brick Counseling, whether online or in-person, are eligible for a Medicare rebate.
ARE MY COUNSELLING SESSIONS ELIGIBLE FOR A MEDICARE REBATE?
In order to claim a Medicare rebate for your counselling sessions at Yellow Brick Counseling, you must have:
- a referral from a GP or psychiatrist
- a Mental Health Treatment Plan outlining your goals and concerns
These are required before your first session with the psychologist. Your Medicare claim will not be eligible if the counselling session occurs before your referral and plan are in place.
HOW MUCH DOES THE MEDICARE REBATE COVER?
Once the GP’s referral and Mental Health Treatment/Care Plan are in place, Medicare will cover:
- 10 sessions with a registered psychologist per calendar year
- After the first 6 sessions, your psychologist must assess your progress before you can access the remaining 4 sessions
- $89.65 from the cost of each session
